Zach Wright and George Goodwin, third-generation grocery store owners, founded retailMetrix as the realization of their joint ambition to assist grocery store chains and merchants in North America in achieving success via the use of data. Three generations of Zach Wright's family have worked in the supermarket industry. The idea of the value of statistics to a shop's performance was first seeded when his grandpa established a health food grocery store in Oregon. Zach has nurtured his enthusiasm for data analysis throughout his career from this initial seed. Zach is a driving force behind the project due to his extensive knowledge of the supermarket sector and his data analytics skills.

The Goodwin family has been in the grocery industry for a similar amount of time. They established neighborhood supermarkets in Southern California, and George's father developed a point-of-sale system expressly for supermarkets that he later sold for millions of dollars. Also, he established California's first exclusively organic food shop, which gave George the idea for software and SaaS. This inspired him to team up with Zach to co-found retailMetrix, where they are reinventing the way that supermarkets and retailers handle data analytics.The first platform of its type, retailMetrix was created by two people with a lengthy history in the food industry and a love of data research.
